How we select jobs

Machine Works is a narrow job board: robotics and hardware engineering roles only, pulled directly from company career pages, never from other job boards or aggregators.

Where listings come from

Every listing is fetched directly from the employer's own applicant-tracking system — Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Recruitee, Workable, SmartRecruiters, or Personio. We never copy the application itself: the apply button always sends you to the original posting on the company's own site.

How the filter works

New listings go through two steps before they're published. First, a cheap keyword filter removes the obvious mismatches (wrong department, wrong kind of role) at no cost. Everything else goes to an AI model that decides whether it's genuine robotics or hardware engineering work — mechanical, electrical, firmware, controls, perception, manufacturing, quality, test, or field service — and extracts the level, location, and salary when the posting discloses one. Anything that doesn't clearly qualify is rejected, not published.

So far we've reviewed 7,501 listings and rejected 3,185 of them (42%) as not a genuine match — the rest never make it onto the board.

Keeping it current

Listings are re-checked every few hours. A role that disappears from the company's own career page is closed here within 36 hours — we don't leave expired postings up.
